    1. Kapanen, Oliver [Reserve List]
    2. 2023 3rd round pick (MTL)
    3. 2024 2nd round pick (COL)
    Additional Details:
Arvy kinda seems like the odd man out to me. Montreal does this trade with the intentions of flipping him at the TDL
    MTL
    1. Arvidsson, Viktor
    Additional Details:
The return may seem really low but remember that it cost LA a very low cost to get Arvy. I put Kapanen in there but it could be Kapanen or Kidney

I don't think Arvidsson goes for much more than that at the TDL as a rental, so it seems like a high-risk gamble for MTL. I think they'd rather sign a UFA if their intention is to flip someone at the TDL.

Matt Roy is better than any RhD Columbus has on its roster. I'm surprised that you're not familiar with him.

Why would the Canadiens be renting anyone? There's no assurance that Arvidsson will have any value at all after playing a season in Montreal.

That's what I meant. It's a big gamble to bank on him returning more than what we're paying here, as a 30 y.o rental after playing on what's probably a bottom-10 team.

Yeah, I was agreeing with you 100%. (I was probably unclear.) Aside from the fact that I don't want to see Arvidsson traded at all, since he's played so well for us and deserves at least a little stability, it doesn't make much sense for Montreal to be the team trading for him.

Habs arent buying wingers. they are trying to dump said wingers. Mtl wants RHD through the trade and draft. Their system is overloaded with depth at every other position, they need to clear salary and roster space for their young assets NOT acquire players to flip unless they are PAID to do it! This trade gives them an extra headche on the wing when Heineman, Roy, Farrell, Ylonen are all knocking on the door and that isnt mentioning whomever they pick at the draft..Benson?!? Sale?!.?

This doesnt happen in any universe unless LA pays the Habs to do it. That is the advantage of cap flexibility. There will be another Bjorkstrand at a 3rd and a 5th at most before this deal is even a thought.
