Description
I see lots of Jets AGM's that trade half the roster, but rarely is Niederreiter traded. Why is that?

In this deal, Winnipeg moves a pending UFA and gets a younger RW who is under team control beyond next season.

This type of trade allows them to rebuild on the fly without having to hit rock bottom. Then they can keep guys like Connor and Morrissey around... honestly if the cap only rises by $1M this year then they aren't going to be able to trade all their pending UFA's for picks & prospects as the buyers simply won't have enough cap space to absorb everything available. So getting younger NHL players back seems like the best move all around.

I don't think the Jets can sacrifice a power forward for a small forward. If Edmonton is willing to take a prospect and a pick for Kailer that would work, but Nino should stay.

I assume its cause Nino would be a deadline trade.

I like Yamamoto but would prefer a pick or difficulty prospect for NN.

I'd prefer a pick and Harkins, but trading Yamo would help EDM's cap situation going into the offseason.

More than fair for Edmonton. I think you're fleecing yourself here.

Yeah, but my point is there simply isn't enough available cap space to expect picks for all of the Jets pending UFA's. You have to take cap back.
