Description
With the addition to Doan and Treliving, I believe we are going to make deals or sign former Flames or Yotes players and also whoever is the Assistant HC that fills the spot left by Carberry, he will probably want his own guys as well. ( I think it's Boudreau )

Resignings
Samsonov - Q.O is 120% or 2,160,000 which I believe Sammy will want more but I feel like Samsonov is also playing for a big payday being only 26 yrs old and If the cap is going to raise in 2 seasons he might see it as an opportunity to get a big contract. Also, I believe the Leafs are only looking for a short-term deal because guys like Saros, Oettinger, Shesterkin, Ullmark, Husso and Levi will all be available as FA.

Schenn - Give him term and he will be back.

Acciari - Same with Acciari and he is a big character guy

UFAs

I feel like a lot of UFAs are going to take 1 or 2-year deals to get a bigger payday down the road and a lot of the guys that were signed are still relatively young in age

Brown, Wood, Graves and Eller are all character players who have grit, size and heart to their games and they will change the roster of the Leafs for the better.

Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Garland, Conor
  2. 2023 4th round pick (VAN)
VAN
  1. Järnkrok, Calle
  2. Murray, Matt
Additional Details:
https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canucks-talking-trade-garland-teams-want-sweeteners

If Vancouver wants to trade Garland's bad contract, teams would be looking for sweeteners in taking the deal. Adding Murray to the trade along with a player like Jarnkrok negates a negative with a negative. Rutherford is likely going to trade Demko for a draft pick haul and they are probably going to have Spencer Martin play a portion of next season along with someone else so Murray might be an option especially if Vancouver isn't looking to win. Also, Garland has been linked to the Leafs for a while and I believe he was drafted while Doan was working in the Arizona organization.
2.
TOR
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (FLA)
ARI
  1. Brodie, TJ
  2. Steeves, Alex
  3. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
This is honestly a cap dump. Leafs move on from Brodie. They add Steeves and a 1st to sweeten the pot because I believe Brodie's contract is frontloaded with bonuses. Leafs at least get a 2nd round pick by trading down which Arizona have plenty
3.
TOR
  1. Laughton, Scott
  2. Walker, Sean
Additional Details:
They are probably worth a lot more and Philadelphia is probably looking to shred more cap and gain picks and prospects and the Leafs give them that here.
PHI
  1. Holmberg, Pontus [RFA Rights]
  2. Niemelä, Topi
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (FLA)
  4. 2024 3rd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
I'm unsure whether or not Philadelphia is seeking to get younger on their blueline but they are certainly going full a full rebuild finally. Walker and Laughton would be excellent adds to Toronto which is looking to get tougher and meaner in every aspect of their team and both Walker and Laughton will provide that but at a cost. Leaf replace Niemela with the #28 pick ( Who I believe is going to be Oliver Bonk )

Canucks are not trading Demko if they want to compete so you can just scratch that entire deal

Taking back more salary than we move out completely defeats the purpose of trading Garland. Also, the Canucks aren't trading Demko and don't want or need Murray.

You dont have an adequate understanding of the Vancouver market if you think that this would fly

C'mon man, Brodie isn't waiving to Arizona. Leafs would be cap wise and on ice wise to keep Holmberg and RHD Niemela.
Should Doan have that influence in player personnel?
