I don't want that contract to get in the way of signing Johnson/Jiricek/Sillinger/Marchenko/Mateychuk/Svozil/Chinakhov down the road

Yeah JT Miller would be a perfect target if he only had 2-3 years left on his deal. Jackets would risk losing their talented young players if the traded for miller

Retain 30% on him and that probably works. But there is no chance on him with an 8 mil AAV. Point is you signed him, your stuck with it.

Was just going to say the exact same thing. On a 3 year deal I'd be all in. With it being 8, no one is touching that for the next 4-5 years. Then some contender will take him cheap with 50% retention.
