I think the Hawks will accept. I'm not high on Victor, he can't play a 2-way game even if his life depended on it and he's not good enough offensively to be a 1-dimensional player, but the Hawks have the cap space to take him. Maybe he makes adjustments under Luke Richardson...worth a shot.

That isn’t getting you Gibson

That isn’t paying for the retention on Gibson

If that’s all he is worth to you, why are you trading for him to be your starting goalie for the next 4+ years?

Im holding on to Murphy, the value is close but Im also not big on Olofsson.

Chicago has so many picks in this draft. Unless they have another deal in place and use those second to jump up into the first it might be too many picks this year.

If you took Olofsson out, the Hawks probably would say yes. The hesitation would be how many 2nd round picks in one draft are enough and this would put the Hawks at 6. Hanging onto Murphy to the trade deadline to pair with rookie LHD in the interim and then move (with retention if needed) likely yields a more impactful (quality) over the quantity approach of this trade. In short, to take Olofsson and not consider him at least a partial dump where something has to be attached to him, the return for Murphy would need to be more compelling and quantity than quality.

For me, a Murphy trade needs to involve either a future first, a swap of the Buffalo 1st with the Tampa 1st, or Isak Rosen as the main component. #13OA + Philly 2nd for #19OA + Murphy (this is almost identical value in the picks as the orginal proposal....but would be way more attractive to a team with a LOT of draft capital looking to improve picks more than accumulate more), or Rosen + Philly 2nd for Murphy + 3rd (this hinges on what you think of Rosen....his draft position or what he is as a player at this point), or Murphy for '25 1st. One of these options would increase the appetite to take on Olofsson moreso than the orginal proposal.

This offer is fair value for Murphy and the Hawks probably accept if they are going to trade Murphy. But I can also see the Hawks keeping Murphy. Not only as a mentor for their young left shot D like Vlasic, Phillips and Kaiser, but for Bedard as well. I can see a scenario where Bedard lives with Murphy his rookie year as he acclimates to the NHL.
