Can you explain your thoughts on why Sens would do this?

Zub is their only vet NHL RD. He's just starting his new contract. They need to make the playoffs. Trading Zub for a much inferior RD and a draft pick that may or may not pay off in 3-4 years probably doesn't accomplish their playoffs goal.

There are other teams trading away RD that Sabres probably have a higher chance of acquiring.

This is really tempting for NSH. The only thing I would change is NSH would want the 2024 pick to be a 1st round pick, guaranteed. If Saros can drag this NSH team into being playoff eligible until game 80 then this BUF team makes it next year. I don't know much about Poltapov, but he seems like he would fit in Trotz's system well as someone with high potential upside.
