BOS is not moving Carlo, especially to a divisional rival.

Don't think Boston does that. It's not an insulting offer or anything and Mittelstadt definitely fills a need (although Carlo is a more proven commodity than Mittelstadt), but the team is so thin on RD without Carlo that it feels like they're borrowing from Peter to pay Paul.

You can have that opinion which is fine nothing can be said to alter it.
Let me explain.
He has shed that PP specialist handle with only 7 of his 28 goals scored on the PP this past year.
He is not a defensive specialist, but he spent most of the season with linemates who were not noted for back checking.
Put him with line mates who are noted for their defense and he will find the open spaces and give you more goals than his salary.
His 1.6 goals/60 ranked 18th among all forwards and he scored more goals than either Boeser or Debrincat whose AVV are about 50% higher than his.
Getting him for only a third is a bargain, the Sabres should get more, because he is only being traded to make room for younger less expensive forwards.
