Why is Detroit giving up a 2nd and Buium? Sure Petry might be an upgrade over Chiarot, but don’t like giving up those assets for the move at all. I’m expecting a bounce back year from Benny

Petry would become the 3rd and final retention spot for SJ (Burns and Petry would then drop off after the 2024-25 season), I don't really see that happening unless the sharks aren't planning to move Couture/Hertl (Granted someone may take Hertl at 100%). My assumption is that with the sharks going to a rebuild, and Couture being 34 with $8M x 4 years left, I could see him asking to be traded and I would assume they would retain on him.

I actually think you're right that the EK trade will be a 3 team trade.
I don't think SJS is retaining on two players in that trade though.
