If we are giving you Nylander you better be giving us much more in return, specially since Horton just goes on LTIR and costs the Leafs nothing but a contract spot.

What good reason would the leafs do that trade. They don't need a goalie. It's better for the leafs to keep Horton on LTIR than take Orpik

That is, without exageration, one of the worst trade offers I've seen on this site, and I'm not a Leafs fan. Why would Toronto do that?

More like, why would Washington. Johansen is a definite future top four defenseman and recent first round pick. Grubauer is already a starting-level goalie in the NHL. with better numbers than Holtby last year, over thirty games. Orpik knocked the leafs out of the playoffs this spring, and would be happy to do it again the next two years.

Meanwhile, TO is facing $5.3M in fines from the league for cap overages. Some Leafs fans on here suggested that, with over 10M on IR, some of it still counts toward getting those fines. That said, Nylander is better and younger than Orpik, so whle Nylander and Horton for Orpik puts both teams in better salary cap situations, and helps both teams improve at positions where they are weak, Washington should throw in one more piece. Just not three.
