Not saying they will but if the Pens buyout Granlund

Nothing against Granlund in the grand scheme of things, but he would need to come much cheaper. COL could add a depth forward and depth D-man for the $2M they have left if they wanted. No need to spend it all on Granlund.

I don't know about much cheaper. A little bit would be great, but he's worth at least 2M. Dude was on a 50 point pace with Nashville last year and put up over 60 the year before. He can play C, pk, etc.

With the question marks the Avs have in their top 6, I think adding Granlund makes a lot of sense and provides for a ton of roster flexibility. It's arguably more valuable than a couple replacement level players.

At this point I'm not sure the Pens have much of a choice. Unless Carter magically ends up on LTIR

Fair enough, and I wouldn't mind really if the Avs did pick him up. I'm guessing they have one more move, at least, but wouldn't be surprised if they wait to see what the current roster looks like first when they all come together. If there is any area of panic - Ryjo, Drouin, or Meyers not looking good - they look for help.
