Description

We should know better than to think we can have nice things in Columbus. Werenski already hurt after a dirty hit in game one. David Jiricek called up. Now Jiricek just has to make it impossible for them to send him back to Cleveland.

I wouldn't read much into the order of the three D pairs. Bean-Gudbranson was surprisingly good last night, Provorov/Jiricek was quite good in preseason, Severson/Boqvist might well be a good style match. Just get Andrew Peeke off the ice, ffs.

Also swapping KJ back in for Roslovic.

My only guess was “Z is a rover, put him with someone who stays home!” forgetting that Peeke doesn’t even do that well. We have two teams’ worth of RD and still don’t seem to have one that is a good partner for him.

We tried that last year too...it didn't work but yeah Jiricek just made things much for difficult for the FO. I thought for sure they bring of Blanks to hold off on this decision because in 2 weeks when Z gets back someone is going to have to be gone and probably is Peeke at this point. Talked about looking a gift horse in the mouth...

And here I am continuously telling Vancouver fans not to pair Peeke with Hughes. We already know he's a terrible partner for an offensively-minded 1LHD. He's not going to be magically better with one who's half a foot shorter. He's a third pair RD, and that's fine. We just already have Eric Gudbranson for that role, and Gudbranson wears a letter.

It took me less than one period of regular season hockey to remember why I hate watching Peeke. Please get him off my team.

Bean-Gudbranson might grow on me, I'd be a fan of the Boqvist-Severson and Provorov-Jiricek pairs.
