Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2024 5th round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Great depth option for New Jersey that can add to their depth scoring for a lower pick. They have more cap space as opposed to other Metro teams to be able to make this move
2.
MTL
  1. Driedger, Chris
  2. 2024 1st round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
Seattle sends their 1st for Monahan while also gaining a lot of cap space to make another move at the deadline. Though there are injury concerns for Monahan, his great early production and getting $3.5M off the books will be well worth it for Seattle, especially if they can make yet another move with the cap space

Added Wideman to the deal to give them a depth offensive defenseman. Doesn’t really have much value, so send him somewhere where he can possibly go on a cup run
SEA
  1. Monahan, Sean ($992,500 retained)
  2. Wideman, Chris
Additional Details:
As for Dreidger, he will be loaned back to Coachella Valley to play out the rest of the year with the Firebirds. He won’t play for Montreal’s organization at all, just being sent in the deal for cap and contractual purposes
3.
MTL
  1. Höglander, Nils
  2. Myers, Tyler
  3. 2025 2nd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Vancouver dumps Myers’ cap hit for the rest of the year and gets a better defensive defenseman in Savard. Montreal gets a 2nd and a good young forward for taking on Myers and sending away Savard. As for Vancouver losing Höglander, they still have Podkolzin and Räty in the system who might possibly get to jump up to the NHL, or they can acquire another player with the cap space they gain by sending away Myers
4.
MTL
  1. 2025 5th round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
With Montembeault’s inconsistency throughout the preseason and the start of the regular season thus far, I wouldn’t rule out a Monty trade. I think he will get traded to either:

A) a team with inconsistent goaltending, or…
B) a team with their starting goalie injured

I think the compensation could be higher, but it’s tough to say what he could fetch. I could see it being a conditional pick dependent on how far his new team goes in the playoffs and if he plays a certain percent of the playoff games

Not convinced Seattle would ever go in that direction, and not sure why you'd want to trade Montembeault for peanuts. The other trades are interesting

If Savard was a good , at least youngish dman it'd be intriguing. Given he's not its not close.

Canucks decline. Savard is just as much of a dump as Myers to the Canucks. Canucks need cap space, so they’d rather have Myers for a year and then the space as opposed to being stuck with Savard for two.
