Description

Saros, Hart, Allen? .....Yeah yeah that's great and all but where is the cap space coming from exactly? They can't do anything unless they ship out more cap then they are taking. Not only will they have to overpay because teams know they are desperate but they don't have the cap to make any of these trades anyway. If they throw Campbell into any trade, they'll have to add even more assets to the deal, making it even more unlikely. Nobody is taking other players from the team like Ceci/Kulak/Foegele in season just because EDM has to do it, unless they are a rebuilding team looking for additional assets and have cap space but there are only a handful of those teams. But will only hurt EDM further as they don't have the depth to replace those guys really either.

Now, the ONLY realistic option is to dumpster dive/bargain bin some players and pray McJesus and Drai figure it out. Oh and fire Holland obviously. Then revaluate in the off season with the new cap number and a Campbell buyout.

Here are some options that won't cost too much but obviously aren't game changers either. Just to try and spark the team a little. The team has to get better mainly from the players already on the team. If they try to go big stud shopping now, they'll be taken to the cleaners and may still not make the playoffs.

Hes cheap, wont cost alot to acquire although i imagine its a 2nd rounder and hes capable of being #1-2 tandem with Skinner. Young enough also that he could be an option going forward if plays well.

He's having a great year so far but will take some cap management to fit in and considering Detroit is making a real push to make the playoffs, they may want to hang on to him though.

If EDM wants to add a cheap dman, look no further than Kovy. Guy is no nonsense defense and nothing flashy. Uber cheap contract also so if they move out another dman and replace with Kovy, that could free up cap elsewhere to improve the roster.

He's probably not quite available but if he is could be a decent bottom pairing option who can play up in the lineup.

Not too sure how available he is but he's not getting a ton of ice time and not having the greatest year but Florida is starting to come on now so maybe they don't change anything but if they did make him available, I'd target this guy hard.

Another guy im not too sure is available because i know Minny likes him but he's barely playing right now and could be a cheap energy guy to help the bottom 6. With the way Minny's season is going doubt they are going to be too picky here either. May be a season to recoup some picks in the draft for them.

this early in the season, barely any guys are available, even bad team like montreal are fighting for the playoffs. makes pretty much most players more expensive because teams dont want to let go of them. there is so very few options for edmonton right now.
