Upgrading the Team other than just Buch JEE or Willie

Beauvillier is just what Vancouver needs, a guy who can be injected into the Top-6 at a moments notice. He's struggled so far this season with only 8 points in 22 games so far, but last year he had 18 goals and 40 points! Plus he's earned 29 points in 49 playoff games, not bad.

Good news: He can be acquired for a 5th round pick, which is what Chicago paid to acquire Beauvillier over 72 hours ago.

With Soucy injured, the Canucks need to reinforce that left side a bit more. Hughes, Cole, and Zadorov are decent depth, but OEL would really round out that defensive corps with his crisp passing and reliable defense. Acquiring him and getting rid of negative value contracts does cost a pretty penny though.

Finally, I think Nate Schmidt would finish the defense nicely. The guy is a perfect fit for depth, he can play both sides, and was so great in that Vegas series. He clearly enjoys Winnipeg and has said he wants to stay there the rest of his career, but Schmidt would look really good in Blue and Green.

Best part, he's another cheap buy! Dude was traded twice in a year for a 3rd round pick, both times! Obviously Winnipeg only does this if they're out of the playoff picture, but I think it's pretty fair.
