Addition by Subtraction and a couple adds too

The leafs want a RHD with term. Jensen can play second pair minutes and has 2.5 seasons left at 4.05M. Jensen has had a down year, so his return will be quite small, but they gotta move a defenseman. Could move him to another team if Toronto has no interest, but it at least makes some sense as a fit.

Waivers. Any team. It’s not working out here. He probably won’t clear to the AHL, but great if he does.

Edmundson has looked pretty awful with the caps. Bad penalties and all offense dies when he touches the puck. Send him anywhere. Someone will take him as a 7D. Let Alexyev and Johansen alternate as #6/7 for the blue line.

Believe it or not, I am not suggesting this move out of sentimental value.

I don’t know if this is something NJ would even consider. This is the most “out there” of the trades here imo. I think the caps could do without Kuemper and just move him for someone younger. The devils want a better goalie to split starts with Schmid or take the starter role entirely, so maybe they go with a budget option (in terms of cost to acquire) in Kuemper and save their first round picks for a rental D to replace Hamilton? Or another top 6 forward to stack that core?

Lapierre has looked just as good as if not better than Kuzy honestly, but Lapierre is younger and still developing. Let him have a roster spot over Kuznetsov.

Caps could afford to retain if necessary, but if they find a suitor willing to give him 1.5 seasons of a chance at his full hit, send him there for whatever.

Take a flyer on Henrique if you want to be competitive this year. Caps need another guy who can play center behind Strome and CMcM.
