Description
Sell Monahan, rumoured ask is a 1st round pick or a 2nd + prospect. Try to resign him in the offseason or target another UFA.

Jets trade:
- Pronman has McGroarty 76th in his prospect rankings in the bubble top of the lineup / middle of the lineup tier (48 - 80). Barron is 115th in the middle of the lineup tier (81 - 169), however he seems to be a little low on several defenseman and Barron himself is 16th in scoring for his draft class which isn't far off the 14th overall selection of McGroarty. The jets would still have Barlow (105), Lucius (107), and Lambert (117) for forward prospects and they'd be adding a 2nd pair RHD prospect for playoff depth that likely pushes Schmidt out of the lineup. The Barron bro's would probably be long term jets (plus they get a 2nd round pick to compensate MTL getting the better player in the deal). It's kind of the discount version of Drysdale for Gauthier trade. After Pionk and DeMelo the jets have no RHD and they are both soon to be UFA's so getting a young 2nd pair RHD makes some sense. Added Davidson as a sweetener, Seattle's leading scorer when he and Lambert beat the Winnipeg Ice in the WHL finals last year.

Ducks trade:
- Pronman is still big on Zegras, ranking him 22nd in the bubble all-star / top of the lineup tier (17 - 24). I don't think Verbeek is quite as high on Zegras given the contract dispute (even though Anaheim has tons of cap space). I think he might be uniquely high on McGroarty given his style of play, character, and the fact that Gauthier and him played on the same line together. Habs would have to add still which is why there's another 1st round pick in the deal. Added Ylonen (short term roster replacement for Zegras) and Farrell as a prospect with skill and upside (but his size might prevent him from reaching the NHL in MTL) as sweeteners.

Signed Domingue to a rather righ AHL deal giving them an NHL backup option in Laval for insurance behind Monty and Primeau. Also signed Gaudette to a one way 775k deal to replace lost AHL depth in Davidson and Ferrell and add another C to the organization for injury insurance as Dach, Dvorak, Zegras, and even Newhook are all currently recovering from injuries.

Very easy no from Winnipeg. Nothing coming from Montreal is worth moving McGroarty for.

Canes might amass 7-8 goalies by the TDL

So WPG laughs and passes and Anaheim also isn't interested in McGroarty? Interesting.

Yeah well that pathetic offer isn't getting McGroarty out of Winnipeg, So this basically makes it moot anyways.

How valuable is McGroarty? He projects to be a 2nd line winger in the NHL, Barron, a 2nd and Davidson is basically a 2nd pair D prospect, plus a 2nd and depth C prospect... and RHD are pretty sought after in the NHL. That's a pathetic offer? Is McGroarty the next Brady Tkachuk?

Now take that and put it into the Zegras trade who projects to be a top line winger or maybe a 2nd line C. A 2nd line winger, a 1st round pick, and a potential depth scorer between Farrell and Ylonen isn't enough? Not to mention the Ducks gain $5M in cap space which they can use to get more value?

Should it be this obviously pathetic to me that we don't need to break it down and think about it? So I'm either low on McGroarty... in which case there is easily a way MTL could acquire Zegras without trading Reinbacher or Slafkovsky if they acquire McGroarty... or ... McGroarty isn't valuable enough for Zegras in which case MTL's offer can't be that pathetic for McGroarty after all... that's the beauty of 3 way trades - they expose people on this site. You prop McGroarty up to be this unattainable asset and then all of a sudden he doesn't hold enough value in a trade when he's the one being flipped? Interesting.

Flip the 1st and 2nd round picks in the ANA / WPG trade if McGroarty is that misjudged.

    Barron (115)
    Davidson (n/a)
    2nd round pick = McGroarty (76)

    ---

    Lucius (107)
    Bongiovanni (n/a)
    2nd round pick = Guhle (82)

    ---

    Barlow (105)
    Ford (n/a)
    2nd round pick = Reinbacher (47)

I think you are a ways off on price for McGroarty. He is future captain material.
