Description
This is more for fun, I still think ANA is their best dance partner this deadline. Just looking at some different options. This would only happen if SEA falls out of the wild card race, which is another reason I don't think it's a good fit... NYR oughta act now and not wait until March.

I know I'm leaving some money on the table paying for these retentions, my reasoning is so that NYR can pay all their performance bonuses from this year's cap and not have to worry next year. At the end of the day, retention on Duclair isn't needed.
Trades
1.
NYR
  1. Gourde, Yanni ($2,166,666 retained)
SEA
  1. Kakko, Kaapo
  2. 2024 1st round pick (NYR)
2.
NYR
  1. Duclair, Anthony ($1,500,000 retained)
SJS
  1. Jones, Zachary
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (NYR)
  3. 2026 3rd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
I'm not entirely sure on SJS' prospect needs; substitute Jones for Robertson if needed, or one of NYR's B-level forward prospects. The 3rd round pick in this trade is for the 50% retention, this can be to SJS or to a 3rd team since SJS only has 1 retention slot left and might need it elsewhere.
3.
MIN
  1. Trivigno, Bobby
  2. 2024 4th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Whatever lower level prospect would be needed. I ran out of picks :(

For the good of Seattle, I would accept that trade. They need to work on getting young with the struggle bus they are kind of on.

If San Jose says no to any trade that gives them picks and prospects they are asking to be a toilet seat for the nhl.

This is pretty bad….
DuClair as 1RW (overpay BTW), and a bottom 6 including 3 slugs.
Quick out in the playoffs.
Then after that disappointment, the cupboard is bare going forward.
No thanks…..Better making no moves than this.

Not really sure what you're talking about? What 3 slugs? The guys already on the roster? Then, why would making no moves be better...?

"The cupboard" is still there with the same guys that will make the NHL in Othmann, Perrault, etc. Jones and Trivago (that I sent away here) are never going to make the team full time. Kakko is not in the "cupboard" and isn't really helping right now.

If I were Ron Francis, I'd probably be a little hesitant, which means it's probably close to a fair deal. Maybe the change of scenery gets Kappo going and this deal looks like a huge overpay in three years.

Wheeler, Goodrow, and Maroon.
Wouldn’t mind Maroon- just not with the other 2 in the lineup.

As far as the cupboard- looking at the draft board- pretty empty.
Yeah- a few prospects do remain…but nothing guaranteed with any of them, and no maneuverability going forward with the draft board as barren as it is.
