The Sam Jose Sharks, who should have started their rebuild ~ around 1-2 years earlier: must NOT think of their future being ruined by being aggressive.

Prospects are not finite, and in this draft, I believe there is going to be a lot of talent available, in positions of need for San Jose. 1 superstar prospect, 1 star RD prospect, d depth, and forward strength. That’s what they need and this draft can satisfy their needs for the future.

Grier cannot sit idly by and contemplate needing to keep certain assets. We must finish this years tank last, and must not idealize a future with keeping certain assets.

    1. Broberg, Philip

    3. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
    4. 2024 2nd round pick (EDM)
    Additional Details:
Grier is worried about losing Kaapo. And he’s not wrong.

Kaapo is one of the leagues top 15 goalies (if I recall correctly) in adv stats - and he’s above a .900 behind literally the worst team in decades.

    SJS
    1. Goodrow, Barclay
    2. Sýkora, Adam
    3. 2024 1st round pick (NYR)
    Additional Details:
Goodrow is on one of the least appealing deals, and more importantly he’s on a team who NEEDS cap the most for their future.

I think this is a fair exchange. Maybe needs some tweaking for NYR but I’m keeping the BASE OF THE TRADE SIMPLE.

Having 4 firsts is a little video game-y, but in principle I don't see why it couldn't happen. Pretty solid deals imo

Remove Sykora and NYR would accept. With Sykora they'd rather have Granlund with retention.

Agreed. Also both wingers might seem like overkill with the need for a C. I'd drop Sykora and Barabanov from the trade and make whatever slight pick adjustments that might be needed.

Definitely but I think it needs to happen and it should.
Ferraro is likely an offseason a trade (if we’re assuming Grier wants to commit to his guys - Thrun and Shakir on the top4 LD) - which will see a first.

Then if Grier can properly utilize our cap space he should acquire a short/ mid term UFA - plus accumulate around a first with a bad contract.

Here I acquired two - but with the Rags likely not trading their first (with the reports that Dolan wants to keep his first for the sphere draft).

Makes sense. However this now gets complicated with Dolan saying he wants to draft at the sphere with their first.

I think that’s the fair - I just didn’t want to trade the rangers a deal with term. Here they aren’t locked into anything and could presumably resign Barabanov for cheaps
