Description
GMBM says he's in a tough spot between (that's the key word) doing right by Ovi, Oshie, Carlson and adding young talent for the future. This might get them in the playoff or might fail, but the costs here are not a disaster to the teams future. Might he actually buy for the vets and give them a shot in the arm? Who knows...

Pass. This team isn't good enough. Sell all you can and bomb for a draft pick. Trading Lap for a bad rental D is very bad asset management.

Well then any top 4 D to push others down would do. There is risk in every move any GM makes and they don't lose a ton here. I have been all for selling but this is just some alternative thoughts if Bmac actually does the unexpected and bolsters the team with 2 added players to try and qualify. I would not hate if he could get 1 or 2 players for the line up with out giving away his 1st rounders. Maybe AZ would take less? I thought of Savard but he is a 2 year rental that the Caps wouldn't do I think, although he'd be a better add to the top 4.

I hear ya but don't know if it's possible. Lap can't be used for a bad rental and Milano is on pace for the same amount of points but is younger, cheaper, and better. If you want to make moves to be better now then go hard and get some young kids back with term so you can be good now and for the future.

This team is definitely not making the playoffs at this point. This run they've been on of late has cemented that. Rentals shouldn't be targets, and I think Lapierre should not be moved unless it is in a package for a young player who can make an impact.
