Hanifin is more of a rental in NJ.
It would make sense if Hanifin gets traded to Boston.

Change Mercer to Holtz…(seems to be the guy CGY wants anyway). Remove Hatakka and Vanecek (sounds like CGY’s latest was to remove Vitek). And add some retention on Markstrom….maybe a 3rd to cover it.

I think NJ would be crazy to trade Mercer or Holtz and especially for a LHD, just don't see the need for Hanifin in NJ.

Also they're not exactly flush on the wings, Palat is older, Toffoli isn't getting younger and is a UFA, they need to keep their young talent.

A 1st, Vanacek and Bahl should be plenty for Markstrom imo.

This team is not going to make a deep run for 2 more years if this is our D. Luke and Nemec will be very good but they need another full yr (Nemec maybe ready after one, not 43) I'd rather have next yr be the year and Hanifin as a two- way defender and self zone exit machine or Marcus Petterson, quietly becoming a stellar defensive d man on the left side. Bahl goes the other way, which I'm fine with. It's going to take him too long to get where we need him to be effective, if ever. Goalie gets done in the summer imo ( Petey csn too at this point).

I know the Flames would have little.use for Vanacek, added him as more to make $$$ work.
