Additional Details:
I’m not selling the farm for Zegras, but you can’t help but be intrigued by the skill level, and the relationship with Caufield.

A 1st and 2nd is fair value, and getting Armia at 1.7M$ is valuable too. They can give him ice time to put up numbers in order to make a deadline deal next year, netting them even more return for TZ (maybe a 3rd).

Mercer only gets moved in a package for a top of the line up player or a good starter under 30

"Not selling the farm for Zegras"

Might as well stop there then, its going to take the farm and then some to get him

From Pierre Lebrun: "The Ducks have listened to calls for Zegras, but my understanding is they HAVE NOT PHONED A SINGLE TEAM AND BROUGHT UP HIS NAME"

"This is other teams, because its been out there, picking up the phone and saying whats going on here, and the Ducks havent hung up, they havent said how dare you. But thats a big difference between shopping him ... Having said that I dont think the Ducks are commited to moving him, or really want to move him"

Mercer is not Newhook. He’s much much much higher pedigree and value.

And you know that, hence why you’re offering significantly more to Mercer in money for less term than Newhook got. More than you gave to Dach as well, again indicating that you know that Mercer is worth more than Dach was.

How does Joel Armia get ice time behind Troy Terry, Alex Killorn, and Ryan Strome? Even the younger and cheaper Brett Leason has 12 points in 43 games, and that's with getting 13 minutes per game while Armia gets almost 15.

Anaheim has the picks that will almost certainly be nos. 34 and 35 this June, so the Colorado first isn't as big an attraction as you may think.

Substitute Owen Beck or Justin Barron for the two non-assets and Anaheim would consider.
