No, no. The acquiring team is the one paying for additional retention. It's not Columbus's problem if you need it.

That joke of an offer isn't even close to getting Noah Hanifin out of Calgary. And there's no guarantees he signs with Boston if his heart is signing with Tampa.

Ottawa is not moving Tarasenko to a division rival for scraps and Ottawa is not interested in Forbort.

Try again.

this website has a like button and i used it on squash's comment but i just really wanna make sure OP knows that columbus absolutely does not pay for another team to get extra retention on a player they're sending out. boston pays for the player with x% retained by the team they're acquiring the player from and then boston has the ability to route that player through another team and pay that team for additional retention. just like how the blue jackets routed provorov through LA for retention this summer. the blue jackets paid philly for the player and paid LA for the retention.

Why would Columbus pay for extra retention? Wouldn’t the bruins be paying a 3rd team for that? Also that Tarasenko deal is laughable, I can understand not wanting to pay a 1st for him but a 2nd and a prospect would have to be coming back at the very least. I dont think Boston will be the team to acquire him anyway
