Description
IF a trade happens, it will be because he has informed the team he won't re-sign long term. Assume for fun that happens and WSH is on an approved destinations list.

The obvious comp is Tkachuk -- I think that is both the type (less pure futures, more impact NHL vets) and size of a package that VAN would get. The Caps don't have Weegar or Huberdeau level guys, so they have to give up better futures.

IMO if this was an option Caps should 10000% do it. Rebuilds are for suckers when you can get an at minimum top 10 center in the league and you have the cap space to give him a blank check.

Leonard is a great prospect but I don't think him and a first is enough for Pettersson. The other pieces are irrelevant.

Canucks pass only relevant pieces in that package are the 1st and Leonard and that's not even close to getting the deal done

Nowhere near enough there for VAN to consider, throw in Sandin and a few more 1sts (unprotected) and you might get Alvin's attention.

Canucks are going to be looking for high end pieces. You have one in Leonard and then a solid piece in the first. This offer gets beat very easily.
