Description

Short synopsis, Ottawa gets depth on the wings by trading Tkachuk. Laine if healthy can easily replace Tkachuk’s point totals. Johnson and Chinakhov are insurance pieces that could prove to be a steal all said and done. They also move up in the draft. Ottawa also receives depth on defense. Provarov is only signed for one year so they are not locked in long term if it doesn’t work out.

The Jackets get Tkachuk who give them the star moxie they need on the wing. Jackets are taking a gamble as they are trading future stars for the chance to win today.

Lindholm makes sense as the Jackets need a 1C that can slide to 2C when Fantilli is ready to claim the 1C spot.

Signing 30 year Lindholm to a six year contract, and expecting him to be a !C, just doesn't seem wise.

Pass on the Lindholm contract. Someone is going to give him more term and/or money and suffer because of it.

I’d love that OTT trade, but no chance they do.

Ottawa absolutely declines, and honestly Columbus has a better chance at building a complete roster by keeping what amounts to 3 top-6 quality forwards, a 2nd-pair defenseman, and a top-6 pick.
