About two of the most brain dead moves Anaheim could make.

If we wanted to give Zegras away for nothing we would have done it already, and why would we take back known locker room cancer Ivan Provorov?

Of those five players, we have absolutely no interest in three of them, and we'd want Jeremy Swayman only if we traded John Gibson. The point is moot anyway because there's no chance that Boston is putting Swayman on the market. As to the fifth player, there IS a possibility that we might exchange Urho Vaakanainen for Andrew Peeke, depending upon how well Peeke looks in the playoffs. But then, why would you be trading him?

If we're adding a free-agent forward I hope that it's not a $3 million 30-year-old fourth-liner.

Reports that Trevor Zegras is on the market have been greatly exaggerated, almost as much as those reports of Mark Twain's death. If we WERE going to move him, the starting point would be a first-round draft pick and an A prospect or young roster player like Fabian Lysell.

no way I would sign a bottom 6 player to a 4 year contract.
2 years 3 max. I'd have to really like that player to sign them 3 years too. Just not in todays NHL.

I don't see CBJ bringing back that much dead cap space that does nothing for them. They would decline.

There's some Jackets fans out there who are convinced Gibson is a better alternative than Elvis. For them, that might be a balanced deal. I'm not one of them, tho, and I think that's a dubious idea for both sides.

I don't disagree generally, but maybe look at that Bruins trade again. Swayman is very much not "nothing."
