Description
Trying this again, I built the team this offseason around three trades: Markstrom, Mangiapane, and Andersson (Who both have no-trade list going into effect July 1st).

Probably (definitely) a pipe dream but there are rumors of a reunion that *could* occur this offseason between the Flames and an older player. I'm playing into them but I believe this will be Christopher Tanev (unless he gets a ridiculous offer from another team). I think he would do this under the handshake agreement that he be moved mid-season with retention so the Flames can acquire more assets. People think that the Flames have done good by him when they moved him. Maybe he would be willing to return the favor and help the team out? Again probably a pipe dream but its one I'm crazy enough to believe.

During the season the Flames should start to address their glut of mid-six wingers (talented as they may be). Kuzmenko, and Coleman should be available for a trade if the Flames receive fair offers. The long-shots are Weegar and Kadri, but if good offers come for those players the flames should absolutely consider it. Extending Sharangovich should be on the
table but if he wants too much term (anything over 3 to 4 years) they should move him. The Flames are stuck with Jonathan Huberdeau. They have no choice but to ride him out, at least for now.

Finally, they need to keep cycling young players through the main roster to see if they have any pieces, aside from Zary and Pospisil, that could become key contributors to a future contender while also acquiring assets. Ideally ready to compete by the time the new stadium opens. Hopefully we see more from Pelletier and Coronato this year as well.

Final note, they should totally find a way to get Krebs from Buffalo, I think he's a really fun player and it would be cool to have a player from Calgary on the roster.

Trades
1.
CGY
  1. Liljegren, Timothy [RFA Rights]
  2. Minten, Fraser
  3. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. Andersson, Rasmus
Additional Details:
Leafs get a much need RHD1 dump Liligren and lose a good prospect and a 1st. I think this is pretty fair as far as trades go.
2.
CGY
  1. Clarke, Brandt
  2. 2024 1st round pick (LAK)
LAK
  1. Markström, Jacob ($3,000,000 retained)
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
I'm turning this trade into a pick swap because I recognize how good Clarke is as a prospect. The Flames need more D-prospects especially on the right (even more so if they trade Rasmus Andersson). Another 1st is going to be nice but to pry Clarke away from LA along with the first incentives would have to be thrown in.
3.
CGY
  1. 2024 5th round pick (NYI)
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (NYI)
NYI
  1. Mangiapane, Andrew
Additional Details:
I just want to dump Mang. He's a decent player but I don't see him being a core component of this team long term. Especially when he's taking up a roster spot from prospects. He's a decent goal-scorer and plays well in the slot. I think he would do well on a team like the Isles.

We aren't getting Clarke in a Markstrom trade. Turcotte or Kaliyev sure, but not Clarke

No chance that the Kings leave themselves with only two RhDs for next season even if the player traded wasn't Brandt Clarke. And LA wouldn't trade you Clarke in particular for Markstrom with retention and a first or two.

LA trade is… something. Andersson is worth more imo. I’m alright with shipping Mangiapane. He needs a change of scenery.

Calgary would have to either take back a contract or retain some salary on Mangipane for that trade to work. No one is giving up assets for a 15 goal guy making $6MM.

*Dump Lilly* and yet would be the Flames' 2nd or best RHD in this scenario (with Andersson out of the picture and Weegar on LD)
