I like the idea from a Pittsburgh stand point but i dont think theres enough in that deal for Pesce. He's a good shut dwon option and maybe you need an early pick in this trade to make it fair value.

I don't see why the canes would trade a defenseman to bring in another defenseman. They are stocked on the blueline and need scoring punch and a center. This trade gives them neither.

Maatta plays a similar game to Pesce, but with a bit more offensive upside and not quite as good defensively. Rust can score. He's not the solution to all of their problems but this trade gives them more scoring than they have now.

One thing that the Pens don't need is a C. C and RW are basically the only spots that do not need upgrades.
