Description
I am proposing this with the assumption Carolina wants C or F help (they seem to be just fine on D).

Carolina gets multiple options up front to plug into their perceived holes and don't miss a beat on the back end.

The Rangers get a RHD to pair with Skjei this year. This holds the dam so the Rangers aren't rushing their kid d prospects along, and represents some semblance of defense in front of Hank this season.

faulk isnt a top pair D imo. and hes not a good fit with the rangers either. they already have shattenkirk who fills the same role (offensive RHD, PP QB, but arguably not very reliable defensively)

Faulk's been a 50's (positive) corsi player his entire career and finished +59 last season on a team that isn't exactly great! Not sure where you got the idea that he isn't defensively sound. I don't think the entire Rangers team had a positive corsi defenseman last year (including Ryan McDonagh).

I am not saying he is an ELITE defenseman, but he's most certainly a top pair d man. He would be a welcome upgrade to the Rangers, and the best RHD the Rangers have had in God knows when!

Lost in this...the explanation contains possibly the dirtiest sounding phrase I’ve seen on here. 5 Stars just for that...

“Carolina gets multiple options up front to plug into their perceived holes and don't miss a beat on the back end. “

He's a second pairing guy. Take a look at Torey Krug's advanced stats, he beats in him everything. I don't see Krug as a top pairing guy.

The coach tells you, the top pairing guys are closer to 50/50 not the 65/35 -- 70/30 splits. Kurg put up twice as many points too.
