Description
The Sabres have a strong year and find themselves in the hunt for a wild card spot in February. However they still need some veteran depth to stabilize a shaky defense....assuming Hunwick or Bogosian is not working out or has injury issues.

Sobotka becomes expendable when Alex Nylander finds his way to the big show later in the season.

Habs are looking to the future and collecting prospects and picks where they can. Brendan Guhle is the preferred left defense prospect the Habs would target in trade, another possible option would be Will Borgen, a right D-man at St. Cloud (NCAA)

We just traded Pu & no 1sts for Skinner,
who is WAY better than Petry

He’s alright...
but if we give up Guhle & a 1st for him,
I’ll be pretty p!ssed

sabres certainly won't be giving up their first. highly unlikely that the sabres are close to playoff spot this season

The Skinner deal should make everyone ask why was the price so low. I suspect there's something non-hockey-related or that he's a lockerroom issue. Clearly, for the Canes, they felt this was addition-by-subtraction.

What I can't figure out is why would the teams wait to make this deal? If it's worth doing, why wait? Teams gel better in training camp than after the all-star break, so get the fixes in place now.

No way in hell they’d move Guhle at this point. Also Beaulieu and Scandella over McCabe, rofl no

False. They’ve made massive improvements while teams around them have gotten worse. They won’t challenge Toronto or Tampa but theirs more than 2 playoffs spots available. If Hutton and Ullmark give them a league average performance, which they are fully capable of, come February the Sabres will be in the hunt.
