Description

So if nylander cannot be signed i think Carolina is a good trade partner. Nylander solidifies their top 6 forwards by a huge upgrade to Foegele, Zaitsev with 1 million retained can replace Pesce on the bottom pairing for Carolina for the season and easily tradable to open a spot for an AHL player if Carolina wishes next offseason or if they trade faulk in the offseason can potentially be a replacement for him, Johnsson has potential and a solid mid line LW. Toronto would get the Complement they need for Reilly, Open the cap space they need to resign Gardiner next offseason, get a promising young dman in Bean that solidifies the depth, Foegele gives the LW some depth, and Roy gives the centre position more depth. Long term this trade helps both teams and gives each team the depth they need to acquire to solidiy their weaknesses.

If he is so keen on money, dont let him sign for whatever he wants in Carolina. Let him sit. This would be a valuable lesson for him

It might be a valuable lesson but if Carolina was willing to make this trade it keeps this distraction out of the locker room in my opinion it is better to rectify this situation in the next 2 weeks either by comming to an agreement or trading him cause odds are he will not reduce his asking price if anything it might harden his position right or wrong more than it is.

Why do you think Carolina can Nylander any easier than the Leafs? That's the weak point of so many of these trades. You think Nylander not been a Leaf a distraction, imagine the Carolina team when the trade is made, and he doesn't sign with them.

Zaitsev has played great this year. I still don't know the dislike for him?? The Leafs don't have to trade Nylander at all, and not for that package.

But all due respect to carolina that is their problem. But odds are carolina with more capspace will overpay not to have that distraction. They know what nylander wanted months ago and still were calling Dubas to see if the leafs wanted to trade him. So odds are carolina will sign him within 24 hours of this trade going through.
