To answer you me question no they can’t do that your asking a junior team to trade their best player maybe they are already contemplating that we won’t know until after world junior

Yes they can, but only if the player is sign to an ELC. This happened when Red Dear traded Dumba to Portland. Minnesota requested that he be traded.
