Bruins / Canadians Break Through The Wall

Created by: FryesLeapMaine
Team: 2017-18 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 30, 2017
Published: Nov. 30, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Standard 2 for 2 swap. Highly unlikely, but could help both teams.
Trades
BOS
  1. Galchenyuk, Alex
  2. Price, Carey
Additional Details:
I think Price for Rask would be a good shake up for both goalies. Galchenyuk should be traded too and MTL could use a #1 C type in Krejci. I feel like Price is better, but Rask has the better contract and Krejci is better, but Galchenyuk has the better contract.
This trade also gives Claude Julien 2 of his old players that he likes a lot.

Carey Price is the best goalie in the world. Tuukka Rask isnt on the same planet, and is 2 million dollars overpaid. MTL says no.

Funny but their career numbers are just about similar and both are having down seasons to start...but ya Price is superior to Rask. People crack me up with this stuff.

Rask superior in the playoffs, has been to a Cup final. Won a ring as a backup, but yeah...Price > Rask.

These players are similar. Price isn't playing any better than Rask and you have to take their contracts into account. Price has a dog **** contract right now and Rask is up way sooner and more affordable. They are about the same value in my mind. With Galchenyuk he's not as good as Krejci, but he's younger. Canadians fans overrate all their players hardcore and you're omitting the fact that your GM makes foolish trades. The Weber trade was brutal, Drouin trade will be terrible, what amounted to Eller for Shaw was bad because you gave up 2x instant 2nds in a good draft in 2016 for future 2nds which are always devalued. Is Shaw really that much better than Eller? If you go to NHLTradeTracker.com and look up Bergevin, I'm not sure theres a trade on the entire first page that he won. I'm sure he's won some deals in the past, but recently I'd say he's done a pretty poor job. Sweeney has lost some trades too, but he's also got some obvious wins recently. His last trade of a 6th for Drew Stafford was very good, to get anything out of a 6th round pick in terms of a rental is a job well done. I think if our GM's interacted Sweeney would definitely have the upper hand, but I don't even feel he would need it to make this trade. I can vividly imagine Bergevin panicking over the Price contract which would be amplified by the fact he's going to be burdened by the Weber contract for a long time also and basically needs to keep Weber to avoid admitting failure over moving Subban. Rask is the most similar goalie in the NHL to Price in terms of age + career numbers. Krejci would be their long lost #1 C who can greatly impact a game. The cherry on top of all of this is that Claude gets some of "His Guys" to help improve team chemistry.

Rask = 2.44 GAA .914 S% Price = 3.00 GAA .905 S% ...... Krejci = 14 Points in 18 Games Galchenyuk = 18 points in 33 games.... Pretty clear cut who's better this season. If anyones was losing this trade it's Boston. Apparently everyone who plays on the Canadians have substantially more value than normal just because they are apart of that particular organization. If they were on a different team they'd have normal value, but being apart of the Montreal organization just boosts their values substantially.

It's funny how unaware you are that Tuukka Rask's numbers are right there with Carey Price's and when the playoffs role around, Rask >> Price.

But don't let the Toilet Seat get in the way of your views!

Honestly why are we even debating this? Would any of these guys with NMC's waive it for both these teams? There's not trading with a divisional rival and then there's this..... Both GMs wouldn't make this trade out of spite alone.
