Leafs would like to keep their guys. Winnipeg would like to keep their guy.

Montreal is the only team that wins here.

I don't think Montreal wins here. I think Toronto does. A superstar goalie and 30 goal scorer? For a fine #1, a nice but unproven prospect, and a 1st that should be a late 1st at that. Toronto would be kind of silly to not take that. Winnipeg...not sure they move Scheifele for that package. And I'd say Price is slightly more valuable than Scheifele...and not sure if Andersen for Pac evens it out. Maybe. Not when you add in 3 2nd rounders though.

Beg to differ.
Toronto wins.
Montreal loses.
Winnipeg starts looking for a new GM.

30 year old goalies with 85 million on their contract are worthless via trade

Montreal trades for a slightly worse goalie, that makes half as much. Ask around, and I bet there are lots of people that prefer Andersen under all the circumstances. Then Scheifele compared to Pacioretty? Well that's miles apart. Scheif is one of the best centermen in the NHL, and has a great deal. Montreal runs away with this.

First, there is about a zero percent chance the Leafs can fit this under their cap. Patches would be walking in a year. The Price contract is very hard to build a team around. Andersen is on a spectacular deal (half the price) and is up there with best goalies in the NHL. Also not sure when Marner became an unproven prospect.. He had 61 points last year as a 19 year old.

Marner >>> Pacioretty
And factoring in contract give me Andersen > Price.
The picks are whatever. Leafs give a first and get seconds.

Doesn't make sense for the Leafs. And you are absolutely out of your mind if you think Price has more value than Scheifele. It isn't remotely close.

There's only one goaltender in the world that could possibly perform in Montreal under Bergevin, and it's the one we already have. Any other goaltender would have demanded a trade or imploded by now. No offense to Andersen, even Hasek or Brodeur would have thrown in the towel by now. Roy probably would have punched Therrien in the face, if he couldn't get to the owner's box before security stopped him. laugh

That's great.. But I care about who is going to provide the best value to my team. That isn't Price. If you claim Andersen wouldn't survive (although he has one of the calmest heads in the league) then keep Price.. Please.

Why would Toronto make this deal? Anderson isn’t far off from price and is half the cap hit. And is less injury prone. Marner is just as good, if not better than patches and still on an entry level contract. This would be stupid to do with Matthews needing a contract extension in a year and a half.

So Anderson+Marner+2018 1st round pick for Price+Pacioretty got news for you not even close seeing that Patches only has 1 year left on his contract and Price will never live up to his.
