Here are any extensions and changes over the next few years

Why would the Leafs trade the potential of Marner for Dumba and a take on the buyout money of Ennis?
And those resigning of JVR, Bozak and others don't work in cap. league.

Solid offer. I could see Minny taking it.

Fletcher would take Marner for Dumba and run, Just don't see Lou doing it though.

Dumba is 23 year old right handed defenseman with about the same potential as Marner in his own position. A right hand shot D is also a big need for this club, especially one of his calibre. Marner is expendable for cap reasons that you brought up and the Leafs stock more draft picks in the cupboard for a deep draft class this year. If you also look at the math, and all the cap we can get rid of those contracts work. Komorov, Polak, Marincin, and Fehr gone this year as well as Gardiners 4 million through the trade. That frees up the extensions this offseason, and yes we would be tight when Matthews extension kicks in, but it can be done. Do the Math and the look of Balance of this team compared to current. The loss of Marner would be hard to swallow especially cause he's a Toronto boy but wee have plenty of skill upfront. In terms of Ennis, he could stay as a 3rd line player that would replace Marner short term, or stored in the minors just in time for his contract to expire, and eliminate the need of the buyout.

Stored in the minors? Still costs against cap. Salary minus 1m. Performance bonuses, this year and next year has been accounted for in the cap. Horton's salary has been counted in the cap in 2018/19 I f no performance bonuses are to be carried over into 2019/20

Trade edited to take away from potential issue with Ennis. Also addresses depth at the center position in a cost effective way instead of signing Bozak. I've done the math even with my resigning numbers we are under the probable 80 mill cap ceiling for next year let alone what it grows to the following year. That is with the large Matthews contract as well numbers are as follows

Matthews - 12 mil
Nylander - 7 mil
Marleau 6.25 mil
Dumba - 6 mil
JVR - 6 mil
Kadri - 5 mil
Reilly 5 mil
Anderson - 5 mil
Zaitsev - 4.5 mil
Hainsey - 3 mil
Martin - 2.5 mil
Sheahan 2.5 mil
Kapanen - 2.5 mil (2019/20 bridge deal if he establishes top 9 role)
Hyman - 2.25 mil
Brown - 2.1 mil
Carrick - 2.0 mil
Borgman - 2.0 mil (2019/20)
Gauthier 1.5 mil
Leivo 1.5 mil (2019/20)
Back-Up of Choice - 1.0 mil
Dermott - 0.9 mil
Kunin - 0.9 mil
any depth player 0.9 mil

Ends up with a cap hit around 76-77 million bonuses not included and with Martin still in the line-up which we should be able to get rid of and the ability to get use Horton on the LTIR.

It can work.

Another potential trade regarding the Wild, could be a three team trade. Heres how it goes;

Toronto Receives: Dumba, Kunin, and 2018 Vegas 3rd rounder
Minnesota Receives: Hjalmersson, Crouse, 2018 SJ 2nd rounder, 2019 Calgary 3rd rounder
Arizona receives: Marner, Gardiner, Ennis

Thoughts?

I can read the CapFriendly outlines for NHL caps for this year and the next two year.
Sorry, It still doesn't work. I tried to explain to you why. And it concerns the rules of performance bonuses and when Horton's "salary". Ignore the rules of salary cap and CBA, makes some postings just not factual.
You just can't jump ahead to 2019/20 roster and ignore the ramifications of the performances bonuses of 2017/18, 2018/19 and Hortons "opening day roster spot".

Why would the Leafs bury Komorov, when they could trade for a draft pick or a bag of pucks at the very least.

Why would Minny consider that trade?
-Gardiner does nothing to make them better. Brodin/Dumba or Gardiner/Brodin pairs are probably a wash. But Dumba is 24 and team controlled while Gardiner is a UFA after next season.
-Soshnikov sits in the AHL or is lost to waivers. Kunin is waivers exempt, younger, and has a higher ceiling.
-Marner is a young and dynamic wing. I don't see him having a bright future as center; which is what the Wild need. I see him as better than Kunin as a wing, but Kunin as a better center in the future.
-Wild have no cap to take on extra salary.
-Wild are at the 50 contract limit already before the trade.

Wild have problems scoring this year. Trading away a d-man; that has more goals combined than the 3 players coming back; doesn't sound like a smart move.
