I don't want the trade, but my Patches to STL and STL lineups afterwards.

Created by: bjprice
Team: 2017-18 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 30, 2018
Published: Jan. 30, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Montreal gets 3 players all who are NHL ready next season, to expedite their re-tooling.

Barbashev's ceiling is a mid-grade 2C, but worst case he has shown to be adequate in the bottom 6 center role. He's only 22, RFA controlled for years.

Fabbri was going to start the season at center prior to his knee issue. A very risky add in the trade, but at the same time, the Blues are selling low. Probably not another risky move on the market with such upside. RFA controlled. If it works out, grand slam, otherwise there are still 4 other pieces in the trade.

Samuel Blais speaks french.

Also he is RFA controlled and is, at worst, a suitable depth LW.

And a few picks.

Extra roster players are positional depth: Schmaltz, Walman, Sanford/Kostin, Thomas, Bennett/Kostin, Husso.

Without the depth chart the deal is under the cap.

Since salary is retained, Blues probably make this trade.

Fabbri just had a serious injury. Barbashev isn't exactly panning out quite just yet, Blais keps being added to this deal simply because he is french and the picks are nice but MTL would ant a 1st in any Pacioretty deal.

Yeah if everything works out perfectly, Fabbri comes back stronger than ever, barbashev finally breaks through, Blasi and the picks turn into something useful.

Its just a little too risky for my liking and rankly the only reason why these guys are being offered it precisely for the reasons against them that i mentioned. Pacioretty isn't have a breakout year but he is still scoring decently. He may even still reach 30 this year but everyone i looking at his first 30 games totals making their mind up of that.

IMO simply out of principle, I'd say its at least one of Kyrou+, Thomas+, Thompson+, Kostin+ or no deal. That's fine if they don't accept, there will be others who will give the Habs those type of players they want.
