Anaheim has an internal budget, No way would Murray give Erik Karlsson the $12 to $13 million per he will be seeking and that's too much for 1.5 years of Karlsson.

I'd do that deal on both sides. Ottawa gets a lot of high upside guys who are young and cheap right now.

Anaheim demolishes a lot of their prospect pipeline, but gets two shots at a Cup with a stacked roster. In all likelihood, their window closes in the next 2-3 years anyway as Getzlaf, Kesler and Perry still have big money but will be declining badly.

No way, that's too much even for Karlsson, who is slumping pretty mightily.

I would keep terry but trade the other 3. Maybe change Mahura for Welinksi and leave at that. Karlsson and Lindholm would be so much fun to watch.

Yeah, I was hesistant to put in Terry. I thought Ottawa would probably want a center coming back, so I included Terry. Perhaps Ritchie + instead of Terry could work, not sure though.

Thanks for replying! True, it may be a bit much, but it will likely take an overpayment to get Karlsson.

I wasn't necessarily thinking that Anaheim would resign Karlsson in this scenario. This is geared toward an all-in cup run. One thing Anaheim needs to keep in mind is the next expansion draft. They would be leaving a good defenseman unprotected (again) with Lindholm, Fowler, Manson, and Montour in the fold. I agree it may be a bit much for Karlsson, which is why I wanted some feedback on it. What do you think would be fair?

Gotcha kind of figured that it was more of a short term deal then a long term deal, Honestly it's not to bad of a deal there at all not sure if Anaheim would ever consider it, It is a bit much for just a short term Karlsson but he's going to be pretty expensive either ways any how.

It's a big risk to take giving up that much for 1.5 years of Karlsson, but at a certain point Anaheim may have to take that big risk in hopes of finally getting past the WCF and into the Stanley Cup Finals.

I really like this, and youre absloutely right. If I was OTT and I know Karlsson doesnt want to sign, then I'd take it. ANA gets a huge boost in Defence and could probably get the cup praying for no injuries. Great job man

Too rich for my blood. We'd be given away so much of our future and a cup isn't guaranteed. Also, from what I've read, you expect us to lose Karlsson to FA in 1.5 years. If that's the case, then it's really bad asset management. Would certainly be fun to watch, but I'd pass.

Trading our entire future for the possibility of maybe winning a cup this year is too much of a risk. Mahura, Jones, and Terry look really good and add that with Steel & Larsson and our current young roster players the Ducks can sustain a playoff presence for a long time. This trade would jeopardize that possibility.
