TDL if MIN doesn't catch the playoffs

Description
Was wondering what would be the price for Eric Staal if he became available. I really don't know what the Wild needs are but guess the price might be high? He's on good contract and has been picking fair numbers recently. He would be in-demand. So what would the Wild ask for? Just my very precarious and random assumption.

I don't see the Wild trading Staal. They have no one to replace him next season within their system. That's a big hole to try and fill with another UFA or trade during the off-season.

Yeap happy If the Wild miss the playoffs they can start the chaffering before his contract expires in 2019 and/or before they are sure he produces the same next season.
So... can I count you as the one I can make a deal with? applaud

In spite my avatar I'm a Bruins fan... Getz just happens to be my favorite player currently in the league. I don't think the B's need another center lol. But, for the right price I'm sure he could be moved... just like anyone in the league except those with a NMC and even sometimes they can be pushed enough to want out and willing to waive their clause. The question is who would be on Staal's no trade list for his NTC, out of the teams left who needs a center, and out of those teams who's willing to pay an absorbent amount to make MIN want to move him? If you answer those 3 questions you will find your trade partners. However without actually placing Staal on the chopping block it will be kind of tough to answer question #1.

I'm going to give you an unrealistic but mind changing scenario... I'll give you Auston Matthews for Eric Staal... survey says Chuck Fletcher just changed his mind...

No, realistically he's not, but if an insane offer came along a deal could go down. I suppose it could also be blocked by his NTC especially if the offer came before he was even put on the block, but my only point is in this business everything is for sale. But, I don't see anyone putting up an offer substantial enough to lure him away from the clutches of Minnesota. That said I don't see Minnesota asking him for his list and placing him on the market to begin with, hence this is all just a moot point.
