The hawks have plenty of wingers, I rather have another 2018 1st. Who knows what the asking is he's struggling this season.

Drake Caggiula, 1st 2018 (Top 5 Protected) Kris Russell, Patrick Maroon for Saad and maybe one of Wingels, Hartman, etc?

Saad would be so perfect for the Avs rebuild. I wonder if the Ott 2019 1st round pick would get the ball rolling. Cant imagine an inner division trade would happen b/.w the teams.

Russell is a negative piece @ $4M and 3 years left. If that's the only way it gets done then Drake and (2) 1sts...no protection. Russell is that bad.

Bowman does trade within the division fairly often. Cam Barker to MIN, Sharp to DAL, Oduya back from DAL, Ladd WPG. I'm not saying this is his preference, but he's certainly not afraid of it.

If Saad makes it to the off-season, Jake McCabe and Alex Nylander for Saad and a 2nd?

He didnt want to trade Leddy in division if I remmeber correctly. Avs offered a package for him and he turned it down.
But this is different time and different eras for both franchises. I think Saad is the ideal winger for the Avs. They cant afford to trade young prospects yet but maybe moving either or both the OTT 1st and NSH 2nd rounder for a proven young winger might be a safe bet for them

Saad's value is at his absolute lowest right now. He is creating a ton of scoring chances but is incredibly unlucky at finishing him. It would be folly to trade him right now. If a young top 4 dman came along then maybe, but I don't see giving him up for picks alone.

This is exactly right. You don't trade a 25 year old top 6 forward for picks because of one bad year. You only trade him to get a for sure player in return that IMPROVES the dynamic of your team. For the Hawks that would be a young proven top 4 D-man.

Not that this is something that I would want to do or anything, but what about something like this:

Philadelphia Flyers
Brandon Saad
2020 3rd round pick (CHI)

Chicago Blackhawks
Travis Konecny
2018 1st round pick*

*the worst of either STL or PHI conveys to CHI
