ehhh. The value is definitely there, but man that callahan contract is bad. I'd feel better about it if the sens are able to unload Phaneuf onto LA, but I'd still do it. don't like the thought of having nearly 20 million wrapped up in Callahan Ryan and Phaneuf.

Callahan has a no move and this is a overpayment because Sergachev straight up is a fair deal. He is 19 and has so much potential. Karlsson has had a lot of injuries and is 27. His best days are behind him. It would be a win now move for Tampa but would be bad for there cap situation and for there long term future.

It’s so hard to gauge value. BUT 100% u can’t say Karlssons best days are behind him. For the next 2 years (his time in Tampa) he’ll still be the #1D in the world. I understand that’s A LOT to pay but this is Erik Karlsson. Adding him to this already stacked Tampa bay team would get them pretty much as close to the cup as possible. They would get TWO shots at winning it

I know the contract sucks. But with this move... you guys would be a rebuilding team 100%. You could afford the cap hit for 3 more seasons.

i realized we argue right down to the value of a pick in a deal but we debate
sometimes sarcastically , sometimes seriously but we debate hockey knowledge.

TBL is making a playoff deal to win now and having Hedman-Karlsson team SWE top D Pairing for international Competition for that
just makes sense as OTT isnt giving Karlsson up cheap especially to a team with LD he's proven to dominate all stars with .

Callahan has a NMC. I don't think he'd waive it to go to a non-contender in a weak market with Canadian media scrutiny. Tampa should also hold on to Shergachev while he has an ELC.

With the comments Yzerman made this past weekend, I don't see him trading Serg and Point. That being said...imagine if this trade DID go through and the Senators won the draft Lottery and landed Dahlin. Having Dahlin and Sergachev to start a rebuild would be great start!

he 100% is going UFA already been declared he's going to the highest bidder
if anything given his age and term this is overpaying in Context unless he agree's to sign with TBL for 9m or less there is no chance he can re-sign in TBL

TBL has the hands down best shot because Karlsson would get to reunite with Hedman which i believe makes him want to stay in TBL organization.
after he made his Statement OTT lost a lot of their Leverage in negotiating with non playoff teams as they wont get their use out of him in that time frame
