I do not see Carolina looking to add prospects/borderline NHLers I think they would want to do more of a 1 for 1 deal if/when they trade away a top Dman like Faulk or Hanifin.

More likely IMO is Faulk for Marner or at least like a Kapanen and a pick/prospect.

I really cannot see this trade, either way. Carolina heavily values Faulk, as their captain and he recently turned on the offense hard - you don't sell low on the sub-par offensive season he's had, even with their plethora of defenseman. At least, I'd say they'd want until the draft. For the Leafs, I feel like their 1st rounder is untouchable. They are aiming for sustainable growth and success. That doesn't happen without top level draft picks, even if you get lucky and hit on a player like Connor Brown (6th round) or Andreas Johnsson, hopefully (7th rounder).

Faulk should get carolina a return like Colorada got for matt duchane. He is an amazing defenseman. Maybe Mitch Marener and a 2nd or even a 1st.

You've really complicated this trade. Leafs have no need for Ward, McIllerney has been really solid. Kruger was waived to the AHL. So do Leafs think 2.5 years of Faulk is worth 1st, Carrick, Sparks and Bracco and Leivo.

CAR are looking probably at adding to the roster, not a sideways move. How bout Petry for Kapanen and a 2nd?

Colorado got nothing close to Marner in the Duchene trade.

If Marner or Nylander moves, it'll be in a one-for-one for an equally talented defenseman (Faulk would be fine by me).

How many great Dman do the Canes have? Seems like Slavin, Hanifan and now Faulk have become first team Allstars. I wouldn't trade at least 5 full years of Marner for 2 years of Faulk.

Faulk is not going to the leafs. You guys need to address your defense problem. leafs fans always seem to over value their players and under value other teams players.

What folks especially Leaf haters, it that the Leafs have a time line to successful and it certainly isn't short term. But time the Leafs are truly able to contend 2019/20 at the earlier.....Reilly, Dermot, Borgman, Zaitsev, and Liligren....that's start. Canucks are not overvaluing. its the market price. if the maket says tanev is worth a 4th round pick then thats the value. leafs fans at that point try to offer a 7th or a plug prospect. You guys have 1 bluechipish prospect with real value and that is liligregren.

Few Leafs fans that overvalue their prospects. The only blue chipper the Leafs have is Liljegren, so we agree. I would say Borgman is an NHLer but he was send down due to the numbers. But Dermot is playing for the Leafs as is Kapanen, so they can't be considered prospects, and playing NHL good as expected. One advantage Leaf fans have is the ability to attend Marlie games in Toronto or watch many of their games on Leafs TV. Probably Leaf fans have a better feel for their prospects than other fans bases that have never seen their prospects perform, and can only read magazine articles.

Sorry you are new to this site, by Canucks fan trade Tanev to the Leafs 95% of time, like there aren't another 29 teams he could be traded. Trades often include a first rounder, Kapanen and often more.
