Trading Hunwick and trading for Pacioretty and Cullen

Created by: Willian_Cardoso
Team: 2017-18 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 20, 2018

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Bring back Cullen, a good and experient bottom six C/LW would help our depth and it would makes us stronger in our bottom six.

Pacioretty's trade obviously is the most difficult to happen, but if it does, it'd be an awesome trade, cause would bring us a great experient scoring PF who could be one of the most deadly duo of the league alongside Sid. And with Rust, a good two-way speedy winger playing with both, this line would be feared by all of the league teams.

Habs would get scoring depth at wingers with Sheary and would be faster with him. Simon is young and is showing upside to be a middle 6 center or LW. And Lauzon is a very good d-man prospect, a huge need for the Canadiens. Finally, a 1st rd pick. Something that Habs will certainly ask for Pacioretty.

Hunwick's trade for Flames with Pens retaining 750k of his salary could be a steal for the Flames, if he plays like he had in Toronto. It's a possibility. In the worst case, they wouldn't lose much, if the trade doesn't work.

PS: My plan B for Pacioretty would be E. Kane and the plan C, Maroon.

Canadiens don't necessarly need a top 6 C in Pacioretty's trade. They can get one in FA. That's why I think my trade is a good one for both sides.

FA has no guarantees. taxes, climate and media doesn't make mtl the go to place for free agents. thats why landing a top 6 c is so crucial in a pacioretty trade

I think its time to give up on Dad, he is playing more with Minny, some 3rd line center, and Minny is in playoffs now.
Patches hasnt looked the part as of late, not sure if he is a fit.
I do like the Bart deal tho

Perhaps it makes more sense to use the assets for patch on Grabner instead, and then resign him. We need EV strength production, and Grabner is second to Matthews only(last 2 yrs), so why not go with the cheaper option, both in terms of money and assets forfeited? Plus, Grabner in the pens forecheck heavy system..... my gawd. One must also consider MTLs strong desire for a nice C, as others have said. Solid attempt nonetheless cheers

Well, you're a Habs fan. If you say so, I'll believe it.

But, as I said in my description, I have a plan B on Kane and even a C on Maroon.

Thank you for your feedback.

Maybe you're right about Cullen's option. But he worths the shot. My plan B on him could is Letestu. He could be a solid 4th line C. I don't thin we should try to get JGP anymore, cause Sheahan is finally playing well and deserves the shot as our 3rd line C. Besides, Letestu have enough skills to play as a 3rd C either.

If Sheahan drops his level till the end of this season, we can sign a player like Bozak in FA to be our 3rd C.

I agree with your statement about Grabner. However, I can see one big problem with your idea. I think it's highly unlikely that Rangers will want to "help us" trading him for Pens, a big rival who can win a historical 3peat. There'll probably have more teams interested on him and Rangers will trade him for one of them. Teams like Ducks, Kings and Predators.

if the pens had maybe some better prospects (no insult to the pens. they win cups, meaning they draft lower) maybe the trade would make sense, but mtl's been looking for a legit top 6c for the past 20 years. so yeah, pacioretty trade is important

Yeah, I know we don't have any prospect C with potential to be a top 6. We have just wingers with this upside. To be more specific, Reese and Sprong. That's the price we paid for to be back to back champions and be a contender again to win the 3peat.

Thank you for sympathy. I have the same thoughts about all canadians teams. And the reason is just simple. I like Canada and canadians pretty much. It's a beautiful country with a great culture and with kind and polite people.

Lol. Fair enough. I'm brazilian and I'm from São Paulo. Here in my country we're just like you about soccer. But I'm not like the most people here. I'm not that type of soccer fan and my 2 favorites sports are hockey and football. I'm a fan of Pens and Steelers.

ESPN Brazil shows 6 or 7 NFL games per week and 3 NHL games per week. Now, I'm watching Sens x Hawks on ESPN. Besides, ESPN Brazil shows some CFL games, Euro Hockey and Olympic hockey either.

I think you'll be at least a little surprise to know that, cause we're a tropical country. Lol

thats actually surprising. most Brazilians I know, or South Americans for that matter are huge soccer fans. I'm not really a football fan, but I do watch some basket ball.
Good luck for the rest of the season! Cheers!

Yeah, soccer is their lives here in Brazil and South America. But I'm quite different, cause I prefer the sports that I said. Besides, I prefer winter than summer and heavy metal than samba. I don't like samba at all. So, I'm not a typical brazilian. Lol

Thank you, man. Good luck for Habs and all the canadians teams either. All but those who faces Pens, of course. Lol
Cheers.

PS: Give us Patch and your team will have my support to win the cup every time we don't have any chance. Lol
