MTL gets Johanson
NSH gets Zabinjeb

NYR is rebuilding in need of Leadership after trading their captain and in need of a goal scorer after Nash leaving .
they already have DD who center Patches 3/4 of his career with both seeing career highs together .

NSH gets Zabinjeb who is good but only good for top C if you got depth faceoff winners like NSH, he cant be the guy taking 1300-1400 faceoffs like a Tavares of Crosby
but if you just need him for 800-1000 he'll win a decent amount for you while providing offense .

MTL gets a 25 year old Center to slot between Drouin and Chucky

work some picks in there to balance it out on all sides

He played pretty well with Ovechkin at the all star game. I'm not sure how that translates to actual hockey, though.

I'd say neither him or Pacioretty could land Johansen. Patches is 29 and makes no sense for NYR rebuild. And the habs would have to pay more to get an upgrade thats 4 years younger

Keep Johansen he's a good fit in NSH. Why would you risk breaking up the chemistry after 2 very successful seasons?

yes because a rebuilding team trading a 25 year old signed for four more seasons at a reasonable cap hit, a center which has more value than a winger, will be traded for a 29 year old winger wing one more year on his deal.. EASY PASS from the rangers. Trade patches to nashville sure but you'll have to give up more to get johanssen

Why would NSH want to trade Johanson??? MTL would be 1st in line to make an offer. I don't think Pacioretty alone will be enough for him.

My offer:

to NSH -> Pacioretty + Byron + 2018 2nd rd pick + McCarron

to MTL -> Johanson + Gaudreau

if NSH needs an NHL center going back, I would be prepared to do Pacioretty + Danault (who have chemistry together) for Johanson + Watson + 2019 3rd rd pick

rebuilds 100% of the time have a new veteran brought in to mentor the old guys they traded.
its not about keeping them forever its about trying to get 3-5 years out of them so you give your
youth space and time to mature . i'm not saying it will be pacioretty to be honest but i know trying to pretend goal scoring
wingers with 30+ goal seasons like Patches dont just drop off the map at 30. . .
