Easy no from EDM. With Klefbom, Russell, Sekera, Nurse under contract at LD they have zero use for another LD. Petry maybe.

Kings pass. Habs couldn’t get thst kind of package at the deadline when buyers overpay. Tougher to get in offseason.

Col trade could happen.

Habs wanted Vilardi. 2 prospects taken in the 2nd round, and a guarenteed mid 1st round pick is a lot differant than an top 10 (11?) pick from last year, and a 1st that could potentially be a lottery pick. I don't believe that Habs would have taken this package at the deadline. LA gets some flexibility in knowing that they are extending Pacioretty also.

Yes, the Oilers have a lot of LD. But getting rid of Lucic is going to have a cost, should they decide to go this route. To fit Alzner they only need to move one defender. Maybe it's Nurse in a package for a quality winger.

no, it's actually $8.875mil spread over the remaining terms of both contracts. with Lucic also signed for 1 year longer than Alzner

also consider signing bonuses that Lucic will get every year that basically makes his contract buyout proof

You're right, it's 8.875 real money, it's 11.5 in Cap Hit.

You replaced Alzner’s shitty contract for 2 shittier contracts Stastny 5,750,000$ for 5 years seriously? De Hana 6 years at 5,750,000$. You have Lucic at 6,000,000$, Petry’s Shitty contract, Schelmko,Shaw,

Stastny's contract is in a position that we are desperately weak at. Even by adding him, we are still short an established top 6 center, barring Drouin growing into the role in his second season. Except a multi-year rebuild, which I just don't see as being a very likely scenario, than we need to pay to get a top 2 center that can put up 50+ points. Stastny is that.

De Haan is the a much better compliment to Weber than Alzner is. He's legitimately a number 3 LD that can move the puck and is significantly more mobile than Alzner. There are no top pairing LD available so he'd be our best bet in my opinion to give us a competent top pair going into next season.. Ideally Mete grows into the top pairing LD role, and De Haan falls back and pairs with Petry to be a solid middle pair.

Ooooh crap, that De Haan deal is dangerous. He has missed most of the season, there's no guarantee he will be the same when he comes back and he's not more than a #4 dman to begin with which wouldn't warrant that kinda money anyway. Would love to get Stastny for that money but I think he's gonna get a better offer from somewhere else.

I’m not desputing that Stastny can put up a good 50 points though you signed him for too long. I wouldn’t have signed him to a 5 year deal. De Haan also signed too long, I never said he wouldn’t be better with Weber then what Alzner did. He’s overpaid! That’s all I was getting at. Juulsen would grow into a top pair d before Mete. Juulsen is much better

Juulsen is great, but wrong handed unfortunately for our needs anytime soon. He's most likely going to replace Petry as a really good #3. I get that both terms are long. Stastny's is most dangerous, but it's his final contract. I really can't see him taking less than 4, with 5 being the most likely. I think sub 5.5 is possible, but we are looking at 6 or 7 year term for that luxury. De Haan is a middle pairing defender, who's only 26. While the injury is concerning, his age is perfect for a longer term deal.
