ik the buffalo trade is fair, how close is the florida deal? 5M for lucic i think is more than worth it and florida is a team that values grit and intangibles - im sure i need to add but how much?

IMO you would have to add a 1st to have Florida not only take Lucic, but give you Bjugstad. They love Bjugstad there and he's signed reasonably long term for cheap.

Really? seems to me like a contract they should be dumping because its pretty steep for a 3C, but fair enough, changes made

He's been playing a lot more as a top 6 winger beside either Barkov or Trochek this year and fitting a lot better there than as a 3C.

Why are Edmonton fans moving Russell for Bogosian so much? Bogosian can’t stay healthy

we dont like russell and hes got one less year, also we could use a RHD who isnt good more than a LHD who isnt good

Then why does Buffalo add the pick if he has less term?

Speak for yourself lol. I don't know anyone who doesn't like Russell. Most people think he was paid a bit too much, but that is most of Chiarelli's signings, and not on the player. Russell also shows more heart then almost anyone on the Oilers on a nightly basis throwing his body in front of every shot. Fancy stats don't show him in good light, but hockey analysts always talk about how he plays a different style, he often gives the other team the outside, lets them take a bad angle shot and blocks it, and defends the slot really well so he gives up less grade A chances and more grade B chances. Russell is a good 3rd pairing defenceman, and can cover as a #4 if he plays with a good #3. He also does not get injured a lot. He provides his trade list in summer 2019, where he should have some value on the market. Why trade him now for another bad contract with Bear quickly coming up as a good RHD, who was named the best defensemen in Junior last year?

1. russell is bad at limiting scoring chances and u can look up like every stat to find that. analysts that say he is are flat out wrong.

2. bear has played a total of 2 nhl games and only looked good in 1 - bogosian only has 2 years left and is Russell but RH

3. russell will never have value on the market at 4M/year and this is as much as hell ever get

4. if u dont know anyone who doesnt like russell u are not hanging out with intelligent hockey fans - theyre probably stuck in 1990

buffalo takes on the extra year of russell to save 1.14M/yr in cap space

Bogosian for Russell could work. Buffalo gets a cheaper and better all round dman. Oilers pay more but get a true righty which they need. As well as less term. If both wanted this deal, it could make sense.

The Florida trade makes no sense though. It is arguable that Bjugstad is worth a 1st by himself. Adding Lucic doesn't exactly add value. Especially when he's more expensive. A team like MTL for example with cap space could make the move but if your are expecting a good player back, I think you'll be waiting a long time. The goal in this trade would be to take Lucic's contract off your hands with some draft picks for a cheap contract that you could use. Essentially nulling EDM signing Lucic in the first place and giving you a warm body on the roster to replace Lucic. But that is with the pretense that that warm body isn't exactly top 9 or anything.

Any cap dump trade is essentially draft picks for cap space. That's all.

I don't that buf trade solves anything for either team.
