Bobby Ryan to Chicago.... Yes Really.

Description
Yes, I know the idea of Bowman trading for Bobby Ryan makes little sense on face value, however you have to consider that the Hawks are in need of a #2 left wing, and although Bobby Ryan hasn't worked out very well in Ottawa, perhaps a change of scenery and the opportunity to play with Kane would turn things around for him?

I know Ottawa is really looking to dump Ryan's contract and this is an opportunity for them to do so and not many teams would be willing to take the full contract on without sending money back to Ottawa. I know Melynk has complained about the cap floor going up and how he wont make profit next season unless something changes.... Well this is a solution - Hossa carries a 5.275 cap hit however his salary is only 1 million, so Melynk can get rid of the Ryan salary in this trade while getting a similar contract in Hossa at a far less salary of 1 million, a long with that he gets Duclair in exchange for the swap of picks 25-30 for Ottawa's top 5 pick....

Yea, it's a pretty creative idea for sure...

But outside of that trade this roster doesn't look bad at all, and it would be interesting to see what Bobby Ryan would do playing in Chicago along side Kane or perhaps even Toews...

Either way - If Melnyk was interested in this deal I would certainly do it...

Is Ottawa not trying to dump the Ryan contract and cut payroll? because I read that he was and sending Hossa his way for Ryan gives him the "luxury" of retaining some cap space while having minimal salary at the same time... That and Duclar is a good asset as well..

I like the premise. I think Chicago needs to add slightly more to get Ottawa's first, though. A top five pick is a huge asset, especially in a draft class like this one. Also, you're overvaluing Hinostroza, Hayden and Wingels...all should be around $1.25 million tops. Additionally, have Ejdsell in Rockford and maybe Highmore or Forsling to get to a 23-man roster.

I think this would totally depend how likely you think Duclair is to remove his head from his sphincter for more than 5 minutes at a time from Ottawa's perspective. I mean he's already on his 3rd NHL team, so change of scenery doesn't really seem to be the issue with him.

certainly not near the worst proposal involving Ryan I've seen.

Ottawa doesn't really Hossa in the deal. Ottawa is going to be above the cap floor anyway. If Hossa has any chance of returning to play, does he waive his NMC? That difference of about 20 picks are so, to get rid of Ryan..... Interesting premise for sure.

It's an interesting idea. The Senators are wanting to move on from Bobby Ryan. Not sure they'd give up a top 5 pick to do it, but certainly there should be a good prospect coming back if the Blackhawks or any other team trade for Ryan and there's no salary retained.

If Bobby Ryan were ever to regain his form again like he has for a couple seasons with Ottawa and his former team in Anaheim, this would not be too bad. Cap space would not be good though that is the only problem
