Salary cap will be closer to $78 million this year possibly $80 million for the 2019/2020 NHL season, Rasmus Dahlins ELC will be 3 years $2.75 million or $925,000 per year+Bonuses No way can Edmonton afford to sign James Van Riemsdyk unless they move quite a bit of salary out like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins they wont have the space. Good luck convincing Sekera to waive for Buffalo don't see that happening. And adding Kreider as well you'd need to shed far more salary then this to afford both Kreider and JVR.

No thanks from buffalo. 5.5 for 3 more years is more than i would want to spend on sekera, and mccabe is on a very nice contract for a (realistically) bottom pair d. Girgensons doesnt have much value, he has been given various opportunities here, and the only time he has put up respectable numbers was when he was getting too much ice time in a pond hockey system. He produces very little on the bottom 6, so little that i wonder if he may be out of the league in a couple years.

If you're an Oilers fan you should be hoping they don't win the draft lottery, lol.

What? Maybe i'd contribute something more positive, If there was something more positive to contribute to. Just being a realistic here. And there's no way Edmonton can afford these salaries without moving salary. And what's this 2018 crap.

Lol I think that might of been just a typo in all honesty. Im not even sure I could spell Van reemsdike correctly......eeerrr.. unsure

With that said, Larkinisking is only here to comment negatively on AGM's. That's how he gets his kicks. Although, he's pretty right about this one I would have to say. His comment is actually pretty tame this time compared to the regular nauseating vomit he likes to leave on people AGM's.....

I guarantee you he's holding his tongue for Grabner signing a 2 year X 2.5M dollar deal when he will probably get more.... laugh

few things:
I could totally see this happening as the league seems to love Edmonton and giving them 1st overall picks to ruin and never really compete with. I think they decide against that and say they've screwed up too much in the last 8 years to give them what will be what a 5th 1st overall pick (Hall, RNH, Yak, McD, then Dahlin). With that many 1st overalls the team should be unbeatable by now.

The deal with the rangers is laughable. Jones isn't a groundbreaking prospect, and most likely will be a 4-7 defenseman in the NHL at best. a 2019 1st rounder can be a good or a bad thing, who knows with edmonton nowadays. it could literally range from 1st overall to 32 with no sense of where it would land. Basically if rangers were going to trade kreider to edmonton, it would be 1 for 1 with klefbom going back (which edmonton wouldn't do because they need defense). the deal you proposed has too much risk involved with it for the rangers to consider.

pretty hefty price for strome it seems. yeah you guys got ripped with eberle but lets be real here, strome doesn't have THAT much value.

not gonna really get into anything else here.

Bob McKenzie has reported on multiple occasions that he believes the cap will be 80 million, so I believe him.

Buffalo needs any shake-up they can get, plus Sekera is an upgrade on McCabe when healthy. You can threaten Robadias Island to Sekera (LTIR) if he doesn't wave his no-movement clause. Also, income taxes are a lot better in New York than Alberta, so you can sell Sekera on that aspect. This trade would also clear up a lot of cap room for the Oilers.

An Edmonton first, and a b level prospect for Kreider is a good offer, as an Edmonton first will probably be a pick somewhere from pick number 10-20. This pick is a very valuable pick for a rebuilding team.

JVR on 7 million for five years is a good offer for a one dimensional 30 goal scorer, who's somewhat of a liability defensively. Plus offering him the opportunity to play with McDavid or Drasitl could be a good selling point. As they would both would boost his stats significantly, as they both are drastically better than Tyler Bozak.

That's fine i hope the salary cap does increase to $80 million, I know both Bettman/Daley said the salary cap could increase anywhere from $78-$82 million this year or next. The league revenue is supposed to be anywhere from $4.5 billion to $5 billion it's been reported. But since then it appears to be tailing off quite a bit hence why the $78 million is probably them more realistic salary cap for this year and probably closer to $82 million for the 2019/2020 season.

If this could happen it would be a great team, but I'll still say the problems I see with it.
- Aaron Dell is probably worth more to the sharks then what you offered. He's one of the best backups in the league.
- Khaira is a better and cheaper (atleast for next year) 4C then Girgensons.
- If you bridge Nurse, you are atleast a million too little. My guess is bridge 3 or 4 years at 4.167m.
- Do you think Sekera will waive his NMC to go back to Buffalo? and that Buffalo will trade to get him back? If we keep Sekera for another year he will hopefully get back to his pre-injury self, then when he gives his trade list in summer 2019 he will hopefully have more value then he does today.
- Grabner will want 3m+ and longer term
Basically, scratch the buffalo trade, then you wont have the money for JVR.
Kreider McDavid Yamamoto
RNH Drai Pulj
Lucic Strome Grabner
Aberg Khaira Kassian
