Team: 2018-19 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 29, 2018
Published: Mar. 29, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. Hawks draft Evan Bouchard with their #7 pick, then move up to 13-20 with Nashville's pick to take Joe Veleno.

2. Bowman somehow acquires Leddy & Beauvillier, I think Beauvillier would look great playing with Schmaltz and Kane... Either way Anisimov is getting traded in a package for a top 4 this summer.

3. Hawks add a legitimate 2-way beast in Bozak that plays a game the Hawks have had none of this season with the loss of Hossa and Kruger. Bozak is also young enough to sign to a semi-long term deal.

4. Hawks add depth with signing Moore, Vanek and Wingels - you can never have too much depth, it's guys like this the Hawks were clearly lacking this season. Role players and depth certainly makes a difference.

5. Bowman signs Carter Hutton as a legitimate backup to Crawford.. I think Forsberg and Berube have potential but they're just not ready for full time NHL duty.. The Hawks defense hasn't been great and either would probably fare better with this defense I have set up BUT it's just not worth the risk with Crawford's vertigo issues, if he's out again the Hawks would need a legitimate #1b.

Barzal and Beauvillier are too good together, you need to pay more to split them up

With this lineup, why need Beauvillier? U can just move Vanek or Duclair up or something. Trade Anisimov plus Connor Murphy for Leddy. (Add a 3rd piece if Isles fans think thats unfair).

you've signed Bozak. if you could work ufa jvr into the roster, than might be the best bang for your buck.

I see what you're thinking, but you're paying $7 million dollars in healthy scratches, is it really worth it to pay that much for depth? You can definitely find cheap depth guys at much more reasonable prices.

No way NYI give up Leddy and Beau for Anisimov a glorified third line center, Hayden a 4th liner and an AHL goalie...

If Vanek is willing to accept a contract like that, he's staying in Columbus.

I misread, thought it said Forsberg but still an AHL level player nonetheless.

True, the Hawks wouldn't need Beauvillier and obviously the centerpiece of the trade is Leddy - the Hawks need a "Leddy" - but you can never have too much depth...

I would probably do Murphy & Anisimov for Leddy - I think that would be more than fair.... Especially if Tavares moves on the Islanders will be looking for a couple of centers, so a deal like this could potentially help the Islanders in that case.
BigBeardBurns liked this.

Not really, Forsling is an NHL defenseman he's a #5 but has potential to be a #3-4.

He had a similar year last year and signed a 1-year deal for 2M. I would give him 2 if that's what he wanted.

NHL depth is worth it. Remember that injuries are going to happen and the Hawks cant be in another position where we lose a guy and the only option is a rookie.

I mean if they're one-year deals then no harm no foul.

I see your point, but I rather get a 5 million dollar impact free agent, forget resigning duclair, and load up my top 9 Fs.

Well, if the Hawks can.. Panarin will be a UFA next summer and I think he's the long-term solution at #2 LW playing with Kane, so I don't think it would be wise to commit to anyone like JvR that's going to want a long-term deal but a guy like Kovalchuk would fit perfect. I would be happy if Bowman signed Kovalchuk to a 1 year 6-6.5 deal..

I don't think Kovalchuk will fit in this system. He's a pure sniper the hawks haven't really had ever, (does Sharp in his prime count? I dont know) but 63 points in 53 KHL games while playing on the most rigged team in the league translates to what in the NHL for a 34 year old?

Panarin was a sniper too. It would just be nice to go after Panarin in 2019 (and I think that was Bowman's plan when he traded Saad) so signing a guy long-term to fll that role obviously doesn't make any sense.... Heck, why not sign Vanek and put him next to Schmaltz? I mean he has put up 50+ points again this season.. Vanek would be cheap too, so if he doesn't work at #2LW he could always be bumped down and Bowman could always make a trade to bring in an upgrade.

The Hawks need a sniper playing with Kane and Schmaltz ... IMO, one of the reasons why Anisimov hasn't worked out on that line is because he's more of a playmaker and so is Kane.

Panarin coming back would be nice, but he's thriving in CBJ as well. It won't be easy to bring him back. Even if CBJ is tight to the cap.

Panarin's established himself as vital to this team already. I wouldn't be too shocked if an extension is announced this July.

Maybe, but if he's not re-signed a year from now I would interpret that as an indicator that he's coming back to Chicago - especially if Bowman doesn't sign or trade for a long-term solution to play on the Schmaltz/Kane line..
