I'd rather have Gallagher let alone the picks.

Respectful no thanks from MTL. Letang is definitely far better than Petry, but is upgrading Petry, which should not be in the top 5 things that need to be fixed on the Habs, worth giving up Gallagher and some picks. nope. and really don't care for Sheary.

pass from MTL
we just dumped an injury prone LD last year thanks

Reilly has 18 pts in 45 games this season and showed a lot of potential in MTL
yes his defensive side to the game was always a concern but he's played above expectations in MTL similar to how Benn has (we literally just took him to dumb Pateryn's Prejudice GF and like the Tinordi Trade didnt expect him to be around any longer then Scott /Bartley or Davidson .

Reilly beside Weber who's needed a playmaking LD beside him settling for Alzner ,Emelin , Beaulieu , Benn and even Morrow of which none have any real playmaking touch until Reilly.

i like

Reilly-Weber
Mete-Petry
Alzner-Juulsen

as ever youth piece we have has a mentor something MTL RARELY does cycling in close to a dozen D for 'veteran leadership since the 2005 lockout .
Markov and Subban were always together but even despite that the Spacek,Murray's ,Gill's ,Gonchars and Weaver's were brought in as well as Bergeron and Boulion brought back to fill those roles.

I thank you for a respectful response + reasoning. I was just trying a couple scenarios I thought were realistic, but clearly not. ...

Petry would definitely have to be gone if Letang is coming the other way. What about:

To MTL -> Letang
To PIT -> Petry + McNiven (to replace the loss of Gustafsson) + MTLs 2018 2nd rd pick (34th overall) + MTLs 2018 2nd rd pick from TOR (55th overall)

We aren't trading Letang to downgrade the current team. A winger would have to be coming back. 2nd/3rd line tweener would be nice. Still not enough, and I believe Florida would be willing to give up more than Montreal would.

I guess the only reason Letang is to get some cap relief. Getting Petry in return doesn't help the cap that much. If Montreal were to obtain a RHD Letang, a RHD has to sent the other way. Maybe it's not a fit especially with juulsen looking like an NHLer.

It's not cap relief, it that he's been bad. You'll see instantly what I mean if you watch him for a couple games. Anyway, ... he had a great game today, other than the last 15 minutes.
