I’d say a bigger surprise from TB would be Gourde or Cirelli.. some of us had pretty high expectations on Point before this year.

Yeah Tampa was a hard one. Cirelli is a surprise for sure but he only played 18 games, I would love to see more of him. I had to chose between Gourde and Point, and I seen Gourde play in the QMJHL and I knew he would deliver some days, and it looks like this day have come.
Hedman77 and Taz liked this.

Habs biggest surprise being Jeff Petry? Sure, 42pts is a career record, but he was forced to be our de-facto #1D with Weber down most of the season. Anyway, his advanced stats showed he can take on that #1D role, but not as effectively as a LEGITIMATE #1D.

The real surprises were Carey Price (negative) and Brendan Gallagher (positive). Really, nobody expected for the latter to have a comeback season that strong after the injury trouble he had last season. Everyone was saying his career was over (obviously not).

Biggest surprise from Toronto would be McElhinney, not Reilly. We knew how good Rielly was, but McElhinney has been pure wizardry this year

Could also make a case for Riley Nash for Boston. He had 6 less points than Heinen, but he played up and down the line-up, filled in for Bergeron when he was out and his production this year is double what it normally is.

Yeah Riley Nash had a surprising year but Heinen really came out of nowhere so for that, he's a biggest surprise to me.

I agree that McElhinney was really good this year, but the fact that Reilly had really broke out this year is surprising for me.

Well, would you look at that, another habs fan that REALLY want to point out how Price was **** this year. Why do you have to point it out, hum? So that you can whine about is 10,5M/year contract? You habs fan are all the same, never happy with what you have.

Oh and about Petry, yes he was pushed to be the #1 d-man on this poor d-squad, but the fact that he stood up to the challenge and succeded is surprising. And I already knew that gallagher could score a lot of goal and that last year was just not his year (just like Price this year).

I would say that Mete was a biggest surprise than Petry!
Mete, a 4th pick that wasn't supposed to play professionnal this year, did a really really good job to force the habs to keep him!
Yes Petry has been better than the last years, but he's paid 5.5m.... It's not a surprise that he's good, it's rather a surprise that he was this bad in previous years.

I really love Zucker, he's one of my favourite players, but I think Staal scoring 40+ goals is a biggest surprise. Everybody toughts he was scrap.

For the Devils, it seems that the entire team is a surprise (Hall, Wood, Butcher, etc). However, Kinkaid is an excellent choice!

I would have pick Teravainen for the Canes and surely Chabot for the Sens.

For the same reasons as DwightSchrute, I would say Gourde is a bigger surpise than Point.

Dallas is really poor in term of surprise (just like the end of their season) ahaha I can't find something better than Pitlick.

Good work!! it's refreshing to see such an original publication smile

For the Oilers I'd say it was Jujhar Khaira this year. Last year it would have been Benning for sure as he came out of nowhere to play top 4 minutes. This year however, he's played like garbage and did not live up to expectations at all. He was a bottom pairing guy who was healthy scatched a few times.

Khaira on the other hand had some dominant stretches and really played well in his role. In a year where pretty much everything went wrong, Khaira's play was one of the very few bright spots.

How is Sam Reinhart a suprise... he got 3 more points than he did last year... I'd say Scott Wilson is a bigger suprise

That aggression was definitely uncalled for. You're pointing out big surprises, and I'm telling you which one was the biggest surprise. Nobody expected that one of the top goaltenders in the world would perform this bad, that's a fact. I pointed it out because it's a fact, not to whine. I'm wearing a Price shirt as we speak. The only one cussing and whining here is you. I was okay with the contract if he could have kept up the same level of play.

I'm hoping his concussion, chronic fatigue, and knee issues don't permanently hamper the play of one of the best technical goaltenders the hockey world has ever seen.

I'm also hoping trash "fans" like you who b*tch and whine about other fans become less and less relevant.
