So, you don’t believe you have to give something of quality to get one of the best young 1C in the nhl? It’s ok cause I think this trade is horrible for the Oilers.

It doesn't look good from either side. we want a center, but not at the cost of our future

i replaced parayko with green. Defense still looks good, and getting a guy like leon draisaitl would make the blues a contender

That trade doesn't get done with anyone below Parayko. Also disagree with the signing of Green. Already have an albatross contract with Bouw, not sure they'd want to risk another one so soon.

I'd ask for a 2nd rounder in return as well, maybe even go so low as a 3rd. Otherwise, I'd classify this as a good "hockey trade." I'm a Parayko fan, but that helps both teams out. Pull the trigger Army.

But you haven't looked at it from the Edmonton perspective. Any true Blues fan would know that Parayko will only be traded if they get something that is really spectacular. And I just don't see how adding Draisaitl will help. Because Mike Green is a down grade compared to Parayko. I would rather take my chances trying to sign John Tavares

i would add a 2nd round pick for sure to get draisalt. bouwmeester and gunner are gone in a year, and i figured green would replace parayko, I couldn't justify getting draisalt without making sure the top 4D is solid. after all, we want to win the cup with a move like this

of course if John Tavares wants to sign with the Blues, than that is what we priortize. I figured this trade would be good for the blues assuming JT stays with the Isles. Green could help the struggling powerplay, and Draisatl would definitely help

Yea I get it, but even then I don't think Edmonton sees the benefit in gaining Parayko.

If Edmonton wanted more I would do Draisatl for parayko, kostin, 2nd round pick

I don't think major changes to the team are happening unless Army keeps his word on becoming a spender. Go out and spend for Johnny T

I would really hate to give up Parayko. Draisaitl is a really good player. But when McDavid factors directly into 50 percent of Draisaitl's points (goals or assists) you have to wonder if some of Draisaitl's numbers are driven more from McDavid than they are effected by his individual play. He looks really good on his own, and it's an offer definitely worth entertaining.

I'm really torn in the deal personally.

You didnt like my proposed deals?
In my scenario, we flip Allen with Parayko and get Draisatl plus Montoya as a backup for a returning Hutton.
Then we sign Tavares and Grabner, trade for Pacioretty, move Berglund for a crease clearer, and promote Kyrou and Thomas. Schenn plays the right side, opposite Schwartz and Draisatl, while Patches and Tavares play with Tarasenko.
Stranger things have happened.
Props for trading for Draisatl.
Boos for keeping Steen in your top 6, and for counting on Fabbri. But I like your optimism.

He's looked ok at center in Yeo's system. Unfortunately he has been moved around between wing and center and up and down and out of the lineup so often that he hasn't really solidified his role. Definitely a guy with plenty of potential, but also a guy that might fall into a trade if teams are asking and we can package together some pieces for an improvement.

McCarron won't really jump anybody we currently have, so you can keep him in Laval haha. It's probably a good trade, just depends on your stance on 1-yr rentals (and whether you believe STL would re-sign Patches). Personally, I'd wait until the TDL to see where the Blues are sitting, and if they are in good shape I'd pull the trigger on something like that... my counter would be Barbashev + 2019 2nd + 2019 3rd for Patches - might end up somewhere in-between.

I hear you. Some points to consider:

1. McDavid's numbers are all much better when playing with Draisaitl, so the zooming works both ways
2. Draisaitl spent more time away from McDavid than with him this year, and still scored 70 points
3. Leon's possession metrics (CF%, FF%, SF%) are on par with McDavid's when playing apart
4. Draisaitl's goal metrics lag McDavid's significantly when apart; this may be due to poor linemates though

I agree the relationship does work both ways. But even though Draisaitl spent most of his time away most of his production came with him. Now, again not saying Draisaitl isn't capable of doing it on his own. He's shown he can produce with lesser linemates so it is reasonable to suggest with better linemates he'd get more points.
I'm merely pointing to the fact that it's not like Crosby and Malkin where Malkin produces no matter who he is with. That being said I still would prefer Draisaitl over just about any forward we have on the Blues not named Schwartz.
